And it’s only at the very beginning of camp season that you’ll hear me say anything as complimentary as “mmmm” when I bite into a sloppy joe. (Actually, I ate this one alone, so no one heard me this time.)

You know, I never was a fan of sloppy joes. I can eat them, but they just don’t taste good. Or at least that’s what I thought until I had Danielle’s mom’s “sloppy joes.” Apparently Diane’s dad didn’t like red sauce, so her mom came up with a version of sloppy joes made with cheese and cream of mushroom soup (I think) instead… and it is heavenly. So much better than the normal variety of sloppy joe…
I do miss the camp dining hall, though.
Any meal I don’t have to cook looks good to me. I’ll be right over.
Looks good to me but I know all about how old camp food gets after the first week or so.
Just yesterday sloppy joes came to my mind for some reason. I haven’t made any in forever. Maybe I’ll need to do that. I may even have to try Danielle’s mom’s recipe. Look out Camp Kitchen…..Here come RUTHIE!!!! Have fun making those campers smile and filling their tummys.
I do not know if we make the campers smile quite as much as cower in fear at the display of utter madness put forth from the kitchen staff. It is, as you rightly suggested, fun, though.
