-progress-

Nothing’s really finished yet in our main bathroom, but big things have been happening the last couple of days! Here’s a taste of what a person can do with $16 worth of discounted/chipped tile. It ended up being a little more than that because he had to go back to Lowe’s to get a few more matching (whole) tiles.

That first picture is Roger using the machine that threatened my sanity for most of a day. Malin is in the background measuring tile for her own Malin-project. (I’d post a picture of that, but it got thrown into a bin of extra tile and taken up to Krestan Hall.)

Then there’s Malin using the tile saw. I was a little startled to overhear Roger asking our 8-year-old daughter if she wanted to help him cut tile. But, as usual, he knows what he’s talking about. As it turns out, the blade of a tile saw is nothing like a table saw blade. Or a chain saw. Or any of those other nightmare-inducing power tools.

The mess was enough to cause nightmares – but it’s mostly cleaned up now. I sent all 5 of them out to gather maple sap; then locked the front door so they couldn’t get back in. I swept and double mopped everything. My house feels like my own again. :-)
(Yeah, I let them back in eventually – with harsh warnings about not walking on my wet floors.)  :-)

Picture #3 is a bona fide in-progress mess.

The last two shots are shower walls waiting for grout.

And that’s possibly more than you wanted to know.

  1. Wow! That is quite a transformation! Beautiful!

  2. Beautiful! I feel for you on the mess in your house. Phil has been systematically moving projects INDOORS during this cold winter. And my dear husband doesn’t mind the sawdust as much as I do! ;) But a functional bathroom is well worth the mess it takes to create it.

  3. Very lovely. I lke the design and especially the good use you made of your bargain. Kuddos to Malin for being eager to be involved and to Roger for allowing her to use the equipment. It would have been hard for me to let my 8 yr. old girls use the saw, but I am sure she was well instructed and supervised.
