About ten4ruthie

And I did arrive….. one fine day on the four of ten.

……over and out, good buddy… you Roger that?

I’m rewriting this page, deleting most of it, and I just couldn’t bear to take out this sentence:

Then I married a man who is so unreasonably in love with me that he eventually convinced me that I’m pretty great.

I try not to be too opinionated on my blog, because people generally don’t respond a lot – therefore my opinions are left posted and unbalanced by other people’s reason. But I’ll probably end up on some soapbox eventually. I try instead to tell stories about my kids, and memories that come to me and other things that a late-night browser might find interesting.

You may (or may not) notice that I’m not really vocal about my beliefs, my faith, about Christianity. I’ve been a late bloomer in every part of my life. I got married at twenty and spent the next ten years figuring out marriage, and having babies, and growing them into toddlers and on into the great unknown of adolescence. After my thirtieth birthday, I finally got around to putting together the pieces of the puzzle of my own beliefs. Or making a start in that direction anyway…

I just can’t say words that I don’t mean – or don’t understand. And so I’ve never talked the Christian language very well. But I’ve been reading a lot lately. Things like… CS Lewis and well, lots of other stuff, but mostly the Bible…. and my mind is finally starting to wrap itself around things that I’ve wanted to care about for the last 10 years.

I write on here because I love words. I love to make them fit together concisely. Also because people seem to enjoy keeping up with my blog.

I write as a gift to my family and friends. It’s what I wish everyone else would do for me. I would love little private glimpses into the minds of all the people in my life. I’d like to read your stories and hear your opinions and see your pictures.

And I write as a gift to myself. Blogging has been cathartic for me. You may smile obligingly at the statement, but starting a blog was one of the most important, life-changing things that I’ve ever done.

I don’t like to post pictures. I like sharing them with people, but we have a good ol’ slow dial-up internet connection, and it takes too long to upload and download and view and I don’t have that much patience. I have even less time. And there are so many other things that I love to fill that precious time with.

Like two adorable girls or a pair of handsome little boys who are growing more independent every day.

Or a camp to run. Or laundry or cooking or cleaning or reading or tai-bo.

And that’s about enough about me.

ps – the tai-bo was a joke.

  1. Ruthie, I do like to put pics on my blog. I have highspeed and it still takes a lot of time! But you, girl – you make pictures with your words.

  2. Ruthie–I’m so pleased to meet you! Thanks for visiting my blog…and speaking of things we have in common–is your birthday on Oct.4? Mine is on Oct. 5, and I will be turning 33 this year. Look forward to getting to know you more!
